The first dance, in one frame
How a dark room, one bare bulb and a very slow shutter made the picture of the night.
The room had no lighting plan and no window. A single bulb over the dance floor, everyone else in the dark. I dropped to a thirtieth of a second and stopped fighting it.
Working with what is there
Flash would have made a clean picture of a room nobody was in. The blur is the room.

The rest of the night
Once the one frame existed, the pressure went out of the room. The rest of the evening was photographed slowly, at whatever shutter speed the light allowed.
After the frame
The rest of the night ran between a thirtieth and a fifteenth of a second, braced against whatever was nearest. Half of it is unusable and the other half is this gallery.
