Simone & Marcus
One white room, an arch of white flowers, and a pastor who had known them both since Sunday school.
Forty people, one room, and no aisle to speak of. Simone walked in from the side door because that was where the light was.
The vows
They wrote their own, then swapped them the night before so each would read the other’s. Neither made it to the end without stopping.
Pastor Ruth taught us both to read. She was not going to let anyone else do this.

The rings
There was a moment where the ring would not go on, and forty people held their breath, and then it did.
Why the room worked
White walls hand back whatever comes through the window, which is how forty people in a small room photographed cleanly with nothing added. The arch came down the same afternoon.
The whole thing took twenty-five minutes. The lunch afterwards took five hours.
